Best Friends and Desaru

Beach time an hour and half away! Can't beat this for a quick trip!

I love the beach! I could spend everyday at the beach cause it's my happy place. Just 1.5 hours from my apartment in Johor, is a beautiful, peaceful and practically empty beach.

The first time I went here I thought I would come back once a month, but there is so much to see around these parts that it hasn't happened, but luckily I've been here several times. And hope to make it here a few more times before I leave in July.

The best part of Desaru, besides being so close to home, is the quiet and peaceful feeling. For some reason, there are hardly any people spending time on the beach, and especially swimming in the water. It's like having your own private beach. Yes, there are a few downsides. Like sea lice that are sometimes present, biting you on the body like underwater mosquitos. They especially like me. Sometimes it's just worth floating in the lovely cool water and enduring the bites. There are lots of shady places to over look the beach and relax wile hearing the calming waves hit the beach.

We stayed at Sands and Sandals Resort and this by far is the best resort here. The rooms are clean and comfortable. The pool is huge. There are several restaurants, including a Japanese Teppanyaki place where we had yummy food for less than half of what we would pay in the U.S.

And the best part of the trip:
Friends! I have the best friends a girl could ask for here in Malaysia. This weekend we celebrated Helena's birthday in Desaru. Melissa, Amanda and I all joined her for the special weekend. Nothing like spending time with fun women. They are a huge support and friend to me in every way. There is nothing like traveling with friends! We concluded our weekend with a facial and dinner at Osmans. Living overseas is not always easy, but it sure makes a difference having friends there to support you.
