Shopping Fun!

It's always an adventure shopping in China!

Last night Anita and I were out shopping while Cheree and Susan went back to the hotel so Susan could get a massage. We were just checking out shops on the way back to the hotel. There are just hundreds of small shops on every street. I believe that people shop for food everyday, but it seems that shopping for other things is a favorite pastime for them. We came across a wedding shop, where everything in there was for weddings. Candy, cards, money holders, tea sets, and more. It was cute.

Another store we checked out was one that had all sorts of dead animals in the windows. Like trophy animals, deer and turtles. We went in and there were barrels of dead and dried animals. There were dead seahorses, brains, frogs, and animal parts I couldn’t even identify! Creepy! Guess it must be for medicinal purposes!

Near the hotel is also a huge vegetable indoor market. I need to get photos of it, cause it is so interesting!

Almost all shopping requires bargaining. I bought a shirt yesterday with the price tag of 364 RMB, and finally got it down to 80 RMB. Most the time you have to start to walk away before they will agree to the price, and if they don’t come after you then you realize that the price you gave was too low and you lost out, unless you want to lose face and go back. But I always figure you can get it somewhere else, so I don’t sweat it.
