Working at the Orphanage

I have wanted for years to work at an orphanage. When I knew I was coming to Bolivia I was excited for the opportunity. I met a wonderful American named Rachel that is working at another school here in Santa Cruz and she hooked me up with information about an orphanage, and Melissa called about it, cause I thought I wouldn't be able to speak to them. She set it up that we would go to the orphanage last week. The director, Paul, actually came and met us at the school and we took a bus out there. I loved meeting all the kids and playing with them. There are some really sad stories of why the kids are there, like botched abortions and accidents. I'm impressed with the director, who, with his wife has adopted 3 children and are raising them along with the 4 they already have. And running the orphanage along with it. We plan on going every Thursday after school to work for an hour or so.
