Last Sunday, October 12, was the Bolivian Presidential Elections. There was no church, shopping, driving vehicles including cars, busses or taxis. Everything was closed and it was mandatory that you vote. In fact, if you didn’t vote you would not be able to use the bank or fly on a plane for 6 months. They take their elections seriously.
The Choquevillca Villanueva family (my adopted family) invited me over for lunch, so around noon I walked over there, with an umbrella, es mas caliente que el infierno! They were BBQ and Feliz was cooking outside over a bed of coals in the hot weather. Lots of meat! Including intestines and boob of cow! Hmmm…I did try the boob, but spit it out.
They had yummy fried yucca, cheesy rice, salad, meat, and this yummy limeade that I am now making. You take about 5 limes, chop them into 4 pieces and blend them up in water. Then you strain it keeping the water. Add sugar and ice and it’s delicious!
We ate outside and then they did the dishes outside with the hose.
After we “drove” over to my house in the car. I asked why we did that when it was against the law, but they said there aren’t enough police and they wouldn’t get caught. I suppose that because it was later in the afternoon maybe they wouldn’t get in trouble because they had already voted.
They all went swimming in my pool and loved it! I really do like this house and people love the pool!
