Friday Night

Fun night downtown Santa Cruz

Longggggggg day at work on Friday. I keep telling myself that after teaching for 20 years I don't have to get stressed out...but every year is a challenge. Course it is a little more of a challenge here. It's difficult to figure everything out. New grading program, a back room full of "crap", where's the printer? PC? What? I like my Mac! Have to get a principal signature to even get staples and glue, where would I buy that stuff anyway? Not a Walmart in sight, new faces, new names to learn, new curriculum, totally new environment, and on and on.

So we decided we needed a little fun. We headed to Kelly's house for a little rest, and then Melissa, Kelly and I got a taxi to downtown Santa Cruz for dinner. There is a very large plaza with a Catholic Church that is huge and beautiful. We saw a cafe on top of a building so headed up to check it out. Beautiful view. Very peaceful and relaxing. We noticed that the stars look different here. Some other teachers came and met us for dinner. The menu looked good, but I opted for an ice-cream sundae. Yummy!

The plaza was really busy with all different kinds of people. Seems like so many people are just trying to survive. So sad to see all the beggars especially with young children in tow. Never a dull moment here!

Caught a taxi home.

Wow!!! Diane, you put a whole new twist on teaching!!!!!! It's a hard job under the best of circumstances, but add in language barriers, lack of supplies, and a completely different environment!!!! You are amazing and have taken teaching to a whole new level!!! Is there an address to send you supplies and goodies???? You are my hero! Love, Christie

Is the LDS church close? How about a temple?

Church is 5 minute walk away. Temple in Cochabamba Airline flight to there.

Wow! Amazing adventures already! I love to hear and see. I am trying to convince Marion to save our money for a visit. So far he is just rolling his eyes. Maybe I'll save my own money & come without him!
