Beijing

Last City on the tour

Yesterday we left Xi'an and headed for Beijing. We had our lunch on the plane, and got our one cup of drink. It's a joke here, cause at all the restaurants you only get a small glass, and usually one drink of beer or soda, and you have to buy anymore you want. This was one day where we were all probably dehydrated by the end of the day.

Right when we arrived in Beijing we headed for Olympic Park and took a short tour, hounded by venders the whole time. They were trying to sell kites, which I bought for grandchildren, and various other tourist junk. I haven't been to this place before cause in 2008 when the Olympics were happening the tour didn't go to Beijing, but went to Guilin instead. So, it was great to see it.

We walked around the "village" for a while, and then headed back to the bus for more than an hours ride to dinner. We were late so had to hurry and eat our traditional Peking Duck dinner that Beijing is famous for. Then we walked around the corner and enjoyed a Chinese Opera. It was awesome! Nice costumes. They would do like the opera's I have seen in Utah, and display in English what they were saying. Really enjoyed it!

Then we headed back to the bus and came to the hotel. This is by far the nicest hotel we have stayed at. We think there is actually a real mattress on the bed, and we are not in the basement like last time, but on the 11th floor. And the window opens.....a big deal here!

Heading to the Great Wall this morning!
